Private Excursion to Himeji & Kōbe from Kyoto

Discover the impressive Himeji Castle, one of the most recognizable symbols of feudal Japan, and visit Kōbe, home to the country’s most important port.

Itinerary

We will pick you up at 7:30 AM from your hotel in Kyoto and take a train to Himeji. Upon arrival, we will begin our city tour.

We will stroll through Himeji’s shopping arcades before heading to the fortress that dominates the landscape. Known as the White Heron Castle, Himeji Castle has remained virtually untouched for over 400 years and is the finest example of feudal Japanese architecture.

After exploring this remarkable site, we will take a train to Kōbe, a city internationally famous for its exquisite Wagyu beef, a protected designation of origin under Japanese law. You will have free time to enjoy lunch at your own pace.

We will then regroup to explore Kōbe’s port, the most important in Japan. Walking alongside the modern waterfront buildings, we will take in stunning views of the bay. Our route will lead us through the Changan Gate Arch and the colorful streets of Nankin-machi, Kōbe’s vibrant Chinatown.

In the afternoon, we will explore the shops and restaurants of the lively Sannomiya district before taking the train back to Kyoto.

The tour will conclude with a return to your hotel at approximately 3:30 PM.
