Private Excursion to Nikko from Tokyo
Declared a World Heritage Site in 1999, Nikko is one of the most beautiful destinations you can visit from Tokyo. On this private tour, we will explore this breathtaking natural setting, discovering its most important temples and monuments.
Itinerary
At the scheduled time, we will meet at the designated meeting point in Tokyo and take a train to Nikko. Please note that this private excursion will be conducted on foot and using public transportation.
Upon arrival in Nikko, we will enter the area known as “Sannai”, where temples and shrines are harmoniously integrated with nature.
Our walk will continue with a visit to the Toshogu Shinto Shrine, the resting place of the first shogun of the Tokugawa clan. Here, we will also discover impressive toriis, a five-story pagoda with intricate decorations, and three famous carvings: the “Three Wise Monkeys,” the “Weeping Dragon,” and the “Sleeping Cat.”
Surrounded by lush mountain vegetation, we will reach Taiyuin Temple, the burial site of the shogun responsible for the construction of the Toshogu Shrine.
A day in Nikko wouldn’t be complete without visiting its most famous bridge: the Shinkyo Bridge (Sacred Bridge). Its striking red color contrasts beautifully with the surrounding greenery, making it a perfect photo spot.
After our visits, you will have free time for lunch and to shop for souvenirs before beginning our return journey. Please note that even if you choose not to eat, there will be a mandatory 30-minute break for the guide to rest.
Finally, we will arrive back at our meeting point in Tokyo around 4:50 PM.
Meeting Point
The meeting point will be at either Tokyo Station or Asakusa Station. The exact location will be confirmed on the voucher after booking.
