Private Tour to Hiroshima and Miyajima from Kyoto

Travel back in time and relive the terrible event that shook Hiroshima in 1945 and changed its history forever. You will also visit Miyajima, known as the island of the gods. Do you know why?

Itinerary
We will meet at the Hiroshima train station at the designated time and take a tram that will take us to the Peace Memorial Park, one of the major attractions of this Japanese city.

Unfortunately, all the history surrounding Hiroshima is focused on the atomic bomb that devastated the city on August 6, 1945. As we walk through the park commemorating the victims, we will recall the devastating consequences the first nuclear bomb in history had on the civilian population.

In the Peace Memorial Park, we will find the famous Atomic Bomb Dome, the only structure that remained standing at the epicenter of the explosion. After contemplating the ruins of the building, we will walk to the Children’s Monument, which honors all the young victims of the nuclear attack.

Before leaving Hiroshima, we will make a brief visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Afterward, we will take a tram to the train station to continue our journey to Miyajima, the island of the gods.

You will soon discover that this nickname comes from the numerous Buddhist temples and shrines that it houses. As we explore Miyajima, you will see the orange torii gates rising over the sea—an iconic sight! We will also visit the Itsukushima Shrine and the Daigan-ji Buddhist complex.

If we are on schedule, we will also visit the Daisho-in Temple before heading back to the Hiroshima train station, where you will return to Kyoto.
